LIFE CHANDELIER strengthens its commitment to decarbonisation at the Green Gas Mobility Summit 2025
On 25 June 2025, LIFE CHANDELIER took part in the Green Gas Mobility Summit, the leading forum in the Iberian Peninsula on sustainable mobility and renewable gases. This event, held in Madrid, brought together key players from the public sector, the energy industry, the automotive sector and the technology field, with the aim of advancing together towards the decarbonisation of transport.
A benchmark space for the future of mobility
The Green Gas Mobility Summit 2025 served as a platform for debate and the presentation of real solutions to accelerate the transition towards a more sustainable and environmentally-friendly transport model. The day addressed topics such as the role of biomethane and renewable hydrogen in mobility, infrastructure development, technological innovation and the regulatory frameworks needed to consolidate a new energy paradigm.
LIFE CHANDELIER’s participation helped to highlight the potential of biomethane produced from agri-food waste as an advanced biofuel for transport. The project stood out for its innovative approach, based on co-digestion technologies and traceability applied in rural areas, as a tool to revitalise territories, generate employment and contribute to climate neutrality.
The event featured prominent representatives from the public and private sectors who shared their vision and proposals for advancing transport decarbonisation through renewable gases:
-
Ángel Niño, Councillor for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Madrid City Council
-
Silvia Sanjoaquín, President of Gasnam-Neutral Transport
-
Mercedes Gómez, Minister for Sustainable Development, Castilla-La Mancha Government
-
Gonzalo Cañete, CEO of PreZero Iberia
-
Federico Miralles, Director General of Industry, Energy and Mines, Region of Murcia
-
José Luis Gil, General Director of Renewable Gases, Naturgy
-
Arturo Gonzalo Aizpiri, CEO of Enagás
-
Jorge Paradela, Minister of Industry, Energy and Mines, Junta de Andalucía
-
Paloma Martín, National Vice-Secretary for Sustainable Development, Partido Popular
These speakers addressed key topics such as the role of biomethane and hydrogen in sustainable mobility, the need for new infrastructure, and the opportunities for the logistics and agricultural sectors.
Finalists in the Gasnam 2025 Awards
One of the most significant moments of the event was LIFE CHANDELIER’s nomination as a finalist in the Gasnam 2025 Awards, in the category of biomethane promotion in the Iberian Peninsula. This recognition values the joint work of the consortium to turn waste into energy and promote a circular bioeconomy model that can be replicated in other rural areas.
The nomination reinforces the project’s commitment to the energy transition and the decarbonisation of transport, as well as to the objectives set out in the European Green Deal and sustainable development strategies.
A project aligned with sector challenges
During the event, LIFE CHANDELIER engaged with other projects, companies and institutions working on the development of mobility solutions based on renewable gases. This exchange of experiences highlighted the importance of public-private collaboration, technological innovation and the creation of stable regulatory frameworks to drive the use of biomethane in transport, particularly in sectors such as logistics, heavy transport and agriculture.
About LIFE CHANDELIER
LIFE CHANDELIER is co-financed by the European Union’s LIFE Programme and coordinated by the Aragon Food and Nutrition Cluster, together with Genia Bioenergy, Eurecat, ITA, GUCO and INDEREN. The project aims to demonstrate an innovative, cost-effective and traceable model for the production of vehicular biomethane from agri-food waste, contributing to rural development, the circular economy and the decarbonisation of transport.
