Ganadería Guco

The name GUCO comes from the abbreviation of Ganadería Unida Comarcal. The compound feed and services factory is the first company of Grupo Arcoíris to be created. Our beginnings date back to 1978, when 52 farmers from the Matarraña region signed the constitution of this company with the aim of jointly manufacturing feed. Today, GUCO has 484 partners in Teruel, Zaragoza, Castellón and Tarragona and we produce feed for all types of livestock, reaching a production of more than 155,000 tons.

Stakeholders

Companies from O&G (ENAGAS, Naturgy, NEDGIA) and agri-food (Unió Nuts, Grandes Vinos, Grupo Jorge, Jamones Blázquez, COVAP, etc.) sectors

Include feedstock producers, traders and gas distributors, which are potential users of the final added value products obtained, may be interested in reducing their carbon footprint through LIFE CHANDELIER solution and have shown interest in the project.

GENIA and INDEREN, well positioned within the sector, will communicate project results to such companies to promote further commercial agreements. Dissemination will be also done through O&G associations (GASNAM, AEBIG, Enagas, etc.), which in some cases have already shown interest in participating through letters of support.

European platforms, associations, NGOs, standardization entities, networks and initiatives

Well positioned in the O&G, energy and waste sectors.

LIFE CHANDELIER partners are members of several technological and industrial platforms, that will maximize transferring the results to the industry, such as the European Biogas Association, GASNAM (Iberian gas and hydrogen for sustainable transport association, EBA (GENIA is member of such entity), Bio-based Industries Consortium, ETIP Bionergy, Cluster de Energía de la Comunidad Valencia, Cluster i+Porc, Cluster Vitivinícola Català, WBA, ADAP (Association for the Environmental Desimpact of Slurry), Cluster de Bioenergía de Cataluña. Other platforms to be contacted are Zero Waste Europe, EASE, etc. as multipliers and lobbies’ partners seeking for projects aligned with strategic priorities.

Local collectives in Valderrobres, Teruel – Valderrobres

Municipality will play an important role in the project success and D&C actions, so as it is strongly committed. Thus, the consortium will foster their involvement and participation in the project to i) ensure a bidirectional knowledge transfer, ii) share contributions for further awareness campaigns, iii) tackle main concerns of the sector and iv) guarantee a transparent and direct communication of the project evolution in neighbouring areas. Among the target groups, the following ones have been identified:

  • Local citizens: Informed and non-informed public. This includes citizens lacking awareness about agri-food waste valorisation strategies towards biogas/biomethane and related legislation, requiring wider information about the topic and the positive environmental, economic and social impacts of the project.
  • Neighbouring municipalities: Similar to Valderrobres, some have demonstrated interest in the deployment of biogas plants at small- and medium scale, such as Peñarroya.

National, regional and local authorities and administrations / policymakers

National, regional and local authorities and administrations/policymakers are key public bodies with the capability to replicate the solution and act as promoters in the adoption of novel directives and regulations that boost the concept of the project: ‘Promotion of biomethane production at small- and medium-scale in rural areas.

  • The Provincial Council of Teruel, through the specific subdivisions of Agriculture, Industry and Environment, is strongly committed with the project objectives and it will be continuously informed about the project evolution.
  • Regional governments and Local administrations: The Regional Government of Aragon is actively involved in the definition and implementation of the strategic action lines of the AFC Cluster through the participation of the Agrifood Research and Technology Centre of Aragon (CITA) in its steering committee. Other Spanish regional governments and local administrations, like Teruel, Jaén, Valencia, Salamanca, Córdoba, Lleida and Zamora, among many others, will be informed of the project results (based on the biogas plants already projected in these regions by GENIA) and others have been contacted.
  • National Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Environment (Climate Change Observatory) has shown interest in the current proposal and will be also informed about project advances and invited to D&C events (see WP6 for further details).
  • European Commission, DG Environment and other European entities, which will push for the creation of new legislative mechanisms to foster the generation and use of biomethane and biogas.

Other European Funded Projects

That are interested in stablishing a coordination mechanism with LIFE CHANDELIER in order to share knowledge, previous experiences and coordinate actions regarding the dissemination and communication of these innovative technologies.

Universities, research centres and scientific community

Working on the development of innovations on methanation and waste treatment, represented by EUT and ITA in the frame of LIFE CHANDELIER project, have been also targeted.

The project has already received the support of research technological centres such as AINIA and CITAte and ITE. In order to achieve the dissemination of results among these groups, main conferences at national and international level will be targeted, as well as high-impact scientific journals.

Waste management companies and/or technology providers

As main investors in new circular bioeconomy models and cost-effective innovations fostering their economic and environmental profit, have been also targeted

GENIA and INDEREN, as biogas technology providers, have a robust network within the sector and will increase through them the visibility and replicability of LIFE CHANDELIER. The project already counts with the support of waste management entities such as SAV (Sociedad de Agricultores de la Vega or URBASER. Also, i) entities exploiting already built though underused or inoperative anaerobic digestion plants, ii) TICs’ companies implementing blockchain and traceability solutions and iii) automotive companies searching for biomethane-based solutions for their business plans should be targeted.
