LIFE CHANDELIER Takes Part in the 23rd Matarraña Pig Farming Conference

On 21 April, the LIFE CHANDELIER project took part in the 23rd Matarraña Pig Farming Conference, held at the Sanctuary of Virgen de la Fuente in Peñarroya de Tastavins. The event brought together more than 80 participants, including pig farmers, veterinarians and technical experts from across the sector.

During the conference, GUCO (Grupo Arcoiris) presented the latest progress of the LIFE CHANDELIER project and its contribution to addressing some of the sector’s current challenges. The presentation provided an overview of the project’s main objectives and current stage of development, highlighting the progress achieved so far and the next steps ahead.

The conference focused on key issues affecting the pig sector, with particular attention given to the current economic landscape and the importance of improving farm management and production efficiency to strengthen competitiveness.

In this context, LIFE CHANDELIER showcased its circular economy approach, which focuses on converting livestock and agricultural waste into biomethane. Specifically, the project uses pig slurry, as well as sludge and organic waste from slaughterhouses, to produce renewable energy. This solution supports more efficient resource management while helping to reduce the environmental impact of livestock production in rural areas.

Taking part in the conference helped strengthen the project’s visibility within the pig sector, while creating opportunities to exchange knowledge and explore innovative solutions for more sustainable livestock farming.
